| Philosophers of Science... Tremble before me! |

Okay, I'm just going to say it.
Thomas Kuhn read Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit. Not only did he understand it, but he liked it and was influenced by it.
These two statements are enough to make most analytic philosophers of science blood boil. There mere idea that one of their own (well take that a bit loosely since some philosophers feel that Kuhn is more of a socialogist) could be influenced by someone such as Hegel is often considered as sheer blasphemy. However, I think a rather good case can be made for it. Furthermore, if Kuhn didn't read Hegel, then the fact that their two theories (scientific progress and the movements of formations of consciousness) are so remarkably similar as to qualify as one of the largest coincedences in the history of philosophy.
I'm going to leave this as a bare assertion since nobody reads this. However, I can defend this assertion reasonably well if prompted.
Cheers.

My lovely and beautiful girlfriend has decided to once again renew her love/hate relationship with her blog. She gave me permission to put the link up here. She is the best writer that I've had the privilege to read, let alone love.
It's Frustrating What I Can't Chew.
Cheers.

I know that many of you have probably seen this. In fact, I had seen some of it before. Yeah, I had a good laugh out of it at the time. But, after looking at it again this evening, I have come to the conclusion that BloodNinja is a true 21st Century comedic genius. Even if I wanted to, I don't think I could come up with anything nearly as funny as he does.
Cheers.

| Morality in the Year of the Horse |
[15 Jan 2004|08:50pm] |

I'm taking a seminar this semester that I am quite excited about. It's titled "Ethics without principles?" and we will be looking at the new debate between the theories of Mortal Particularism (as given by Jonathan Dancy) and Moral Generalism. While I am not familiar with the arguments, I am running off of a (probably wrong) provisional assumption, viz., that moral particularists are against the business of creating moral theories that are driven by general (or universal) moral principles. It seems, from the outset, that they may hammer away at the background assumptions and metaphysical baggage that comes along with general/universal moral principles. Since the status of philosophical problems is an interest of mine, I am looking forward to seeing how the moral particularists argument develops. I have a certain line of thought that I would like to pursue in this regard, but I'm not going to write about it now. If I did, I would probably look like an idiot.
Oh yeah, go check out my friends:

The Lovely Heels
And, I'd put my girlfriends webblog up, but she doesn't seem to be updating it anymore. *cough*
Anywho, cheers.

Here's a poem I just wrote/emailed to my lovely girlfriend:
Good night don't let the bedbugs bite and if they do you probably won't get gonorrhea from them.

| Fox News is the shit. |
[11 Jan 2004|10:11pm] |
If you go to foxnews.com, and click on this headline- "• O'Neill: War Planned Before 9/11" you will actually be taken to a news story about how Danish and Icelandic troops found a stockpile of chemical weapons. This title is, of course, in large bold print. However, it is now known that this "stockpile" has been buried for at least 10 years, and was more than likely left over from previous wars. I find it funny that the O'Neill headline "accidentally" opens up a story that declares chemical weapons have been found.
Fair and, of course, Balanced News.
Cheers.

Since I posted the story this morning, CNN has since "revised" it. Strange? Not really.

Feeling a bit under the weather today. I have the particular good luck of having chronic migraines since I was around 14 or 15. To get rid of them, I have to take these pills whose side effects are listed as "Euphoria" and/or "Disphoria." I get the disphoria part.
